Cleanskin

Sheep

Information

What is the ideal meat sheep?

No breed is perfect for all situations, no matter what you hear. The ideal cleanskin meat sheep wanted by most farmers is:
Fully shedding.
Quiet to handle.
Easy on fences.
A good meat sheep with a long and deep body, and 'money in the back end'.
A good mother with a high twinning rate. She should lamb easily, stick to her lambs and have lots of milk.
The lamb grows fast, reaching breeding or market weight in the first year.
Stock can be sold at a premium as breeding 'stud' rams and ewes.
Preferably a 'normal' white sheep that doesn't make the neighbours snigger!
